A permit (or permission from the Chief) is required for larger types of burning and large firework displays. Burn permits are available online. The permits are issued for specific day(s) along with rules, regulations and when burn conditions are acceptable as determined by the department.
According to LB 408 Section 81-520.01 “There shall be a statewide ban on all bonfires, outdoor rubbish fires and fires for the purpose of clearing land.” Section 81-520.02 reads “Any person violating the statewide open burning ban established by section 81-520.01 shall be guilty of a Class IV misdemeanor.”
